Future Legends Receives National Exposure Via KCBS Bullsheet

  Comments Off

Future Legends of BBQ was highlighted in the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) publication, The Bullsheet, recently. All KCBS members, including judges, competitors, BBQ businesses, sponsors, vendors, etc, receive this members-only publication. We are happy to share the spotlight with the likes of “The Legend” Mike Mills, Jim Tabb and Tommy Houston and to see Henderson County Young Leaders Program (HCYLP) get the recognition they deserve as well.

Charleston Wine and Food Festival

Got to see BBQ Legend Mike Mills work his magic for a huge crowd this weekend at the Charleston Wine and Food Festival. Along with his highly talented side kick daughter Amy and the 17th St. crew they smoked up ribs and signature bake beans (both excellent) for the grand tent final event. Lots of other notable BBQ teams, restaurants and caters feeding hundreds, but have a confirmed biased for all things Mike and Amy Mills.

My good friend and restaurant owner, Robert Bostick, (Gnats Landing / Bubba Gracias) and his wife Mary drove up from St. Simons to spend the day. We were able to catch Mike for a few minutes at the pit and he was most generous in lauding our Future Legends of BBQ event to all the restaurant professionals gathered around. I think we might have picked up a few teams as he could not say enough great things about our organization for a first time event and the wonderful Camp Greystone venue.

Besides BBQ we happened on to Chris Hastings doing a recipe demonstration from his Hot and Hot Fish Club cookbook. Chris and I worked together during my Birmingham days @ Highland Bar and Grill. This is an amazing cookbook and Hot and Hot Fish Club is a must eat if ever in Birmingham.

“I believe (sharing a meal together) is a sacred event in our daily lives with even the simplest of meals.  It applies to barbecue particularly well.  For the Hubba Hubba team, there is something special about honoring the storied BBQ traditions and people by crafting and serving a meal that even the BBQ purist can sit down, enjoy and tell us we have done well.”

Eat more pork…improve your love life?

You don’t really need an excuse to eat our BBQ but if you need help convincing your loved one why you should visit more than once a week, maybe the Argentine President’s argument will help!

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – Argentina’s president thinks eating pig meat is really sexy. Many people in this beef-loving nation reacted with surprise recently when Argentine President, Cristina Fernandez, promoted pork in a speech during which she not only said pork is better than Viagra, but suggested she’s personally proven it.

“I didn’t know that eating pork improved sexual activity,” Fernandez said in a meeting with representatives of the swine industry late Wednesday. “It is much more gratifying to eat some grilled pork than to take Viagra.”

She even joked that “it was all good” after she enjoyed some pork with her husband, former President Nestor Kirchner.

“I think they might be right,” Fernandez said to a laughing audience.

The head of the association of pork producers, Juan Luis Uccelli, supported Fernandez’s speech by saying that Denmark and Japan have a much more “harmonious” sexual life then the Argentines because they eat a lot of pig meat.

“In Osaka, Japan, there is a village in which the people who reached 105 years old and ate a lot of pork had a lot of sexual activity,” he was quoted as saying.

Others were skeptical.  We’ll let you decide.
