Future Legends Receives National Exposure Via KCBS Bullsheet

  Comments Off

Future Legends of BBQ was highlighted in the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) publication, The Bullsheet, recently. All KCBS members, including judges, competitors, BBQ businesses, sponsors, vendors, etc, receive this members-only publication. We are happy to share the spotlight with the likes of “The Legend” Mike Mills, Jim Tabb and Tommy Houston and to see Henderson County Young Leaders Program (HCYLP) get the recognition they deserve as well.

Preparations for our 2010 Future Legends of BBQ Competition, being held on October 9th are underway! To help you prepare your team for competition, we are holding a FREE interactive BBQ seminar at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse on Saturday, August 28, 2010 from 8:30AM-11:30AM.

Join Starr Teel, Jim Tabb (founder of the Blue Ridge BBQ competition), KCBS judges, and other “experts” in the field, for a morning of information on topics including: smoke and fire, rubs and meat, and presentation tips for competition. We will have several different types of “live” cookers here for you to see.

We have just received word that our competition is now sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society so our rules will be a little stricter this year! Prepare yourself and your team for competition by attending our seminar.

Nice Mention in July Issue of Our State Magazine

Our State North Carolina Magazine, July 2010 issue - 100 Food You Must Eat
The July issue of Our State Magazine, has a great article on 100 places to eat in North Carolina’s 100 counties. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the list this year but our neighbor, Hot Dog World in Hendersonville, has the honor of being the featured spot for Henderson County. Nice choice!

We didn’t go away empty handed, however. Asheville photographer, Matt Rose, was asked where his favorite place to eat in NC was and why. This was Matt’s comment:

“I like indigenous food. Barbecue is as indigenous as it gets here in North Carolina. My favorite barbecue comes from a restaurant about 20 minutes south of Asheville in the small town of Flat Rock. Behind a row of brightly painted shops is Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. Owner and Pitmaster, Starr Teel, creates the greatest BBQ in a giant, custom-built, wood-fired smoking and roasting chamber.”

Thanks, Matt!

The July issue of Our State is on newsstands now. Pick up a copy for great places to visit or submit your own list of great places to eat in NC.

Hubba Hubba Smokehouse is about more than just BBQ. Recently, we catered a wedding reception at Camp Greystone in Tuxedo, NC.  The bride chose to have her casual rehearsal dinner at Hubba Hubba and then we followed that event up with a beautiful wedding reception.  Check out the photos and video from the wedding reception.
